Who We Are
Premium entertainment journalism for audiences who take culture seriously.
Our Story

Kiribé was founded in 2013 with a simple conviction: that African and diaspora culture deserved the kind of serious, sustained editorial attention that had long been reserved for Western productions. A quarterly print magazine at first, it quickly outgrew that format — because the story was moving too fast, and the readers were too hungry.
Today Kiribé is a digital-first publication read by over one million people in more than forty countries. We cover film, television, opinion, documentary, and the cultural conversations that cut across all of them. Our critics are filmmakers, academics, journalists, and lifelong cinephiles. What unites them is a refusal to be satisfied with easy answers.
We believe that entertainment journalism matters — not as a vehicle for publicity, but as genuine cultural criticism that helps audiences understand what they are watching, why it was made, and what it means for the world they live in.
Our Mission
“To be the most trusted voice in African and global entertainment journalism — rigorous, independent, and built on the belief that great storytelling changes the world.”
What We Stand For
Our journalism is beholden to no studio, platform, or advertiser. Every review, profile, and opinion is written without fear or favor.
We cover culture from every corner — African cinema, European arthouse, Asian TV dramas, and everything in between.
Praise is earned, not given. We hold the work we love to the same standards as the work we question.
Kiribé exists for the reader. Our comment spaces, events, and newsletters are built to start conversations, not end them.

How We Work
Every piece published on Kiribé goes through at least two editorial passes before it reaches a reader.
We separate editorial and commercial operations entirely — advertisers and partners have zero influence over coverage.
Our critics disclose personal connections to the work they review. Transparency is not optional.
Long-form investigations are fact-checked by an independent editorial desk before publication.
The People
We're always looking for sharp critics, essayists, and journalists who share our commitment to rigorous, independent cultural journalism.
